Dr. I. M.E. Wentholt
Iris Wentholt completed her internal medicine and endocrinology specialist training at the AMC hospital and spent part of her training at the Slotervaart hospital and the OLVG. She then went to work at the Amphia hospital in Breda and the Zuwehofpoort hospital in Woerden. Iris Wentholt received her doctorate in the area of continuous glucose sensors with type 1 diabetes patients. Over the past years, she has treated many patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, thyroid diseases, and osteoporosis. Apart from the full range of general internal medicine aspects, Dr. Wentholt has a particular interest in these 4 conditions.
Dr. Wentholt also enjoys the educational role she was able to develop and giving information to, for example, GPs and patients. She chairs the board of the online textbook Diapedia: www.diapedia.org, and she has led the national working group for Harmonisation of Function tests of the Dutch Society for Endocrinology since 2016. The objective of this working group is to develop a national standard and method for performing endocrine function tests as well as for the interpretation of these tests.
