Dr. M. R. Krijnen
Matthijs Krijnen is an orthopaedic surgeon at the OLVG West (SLAZ) in Amsterdam. After his medical studies in Groningen, he received his doctorate at orthopaedic department of the VU Medical Centre. After his doctorate trajectory, the interest for the scientific aspect remained and he is the (co)writer of various international publications and, recently, of two chapters in the book Evidence-Based Orthopaedics. In addition, he held various lectures at international conferences. Matthijs completed his specialist training at the OLVG and the UMC, where he developed an special interest in the area of sports orthopaedics. Upon completion of his training, he secured a travelling fellowship of the Dutch Society for Arthroscopy. This allowed him to attend surgeries in London, conducted by various sports orthopaedics amongst whom was Andy Williams, the attending orthopaedic specialist of Chelsea FC. After his specialist training, he spent another six months as manager of the orthopaedic department at the OLVG where he predominantly focused on shoulder and knee problems. Shoulder and knee complaints are also his main treatment areas at Medical Centre Jan van Goyen.
