Attention to urticaria (hives)

Attention to urticaria (hives)

Urticaria is the medical term for hives or hives. It is a common skin reaction associated with a violently itchy rash. Did you know that even a quarter of the population will be confronted with this in the course of his/her life? Urticaria comes in many different forms and has many possible causes.

World Hives Day
Today is World Urticaria Day or World Hives Day. This day was created to gain more understanding and attention for the impact of urticaria. Chronic urticaria can have a major impact on a person's life. The itching sometimes causes insomnia, which means that patients function less well in their daily lives. In addition to the physical discomfort, social and psychological complaints such as fear and shame should not be underestimated.

There are several ways to treat urticaria. The dermatologists of the Jan van Goyen Medical Center can work with you to determine the best treatment for you. For this you need a referral from your GP.
