Heike Nyst has been working as an ENT doctor at OLVG since 2010, and since 2022 also working at Medical Center Jan van Goyen. She studied medicine at Utrecht University. During her medical studies, she did an internship at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.
She trained as an ENT doctor at the AMC in Amsterdam. Prior to this training, she worked at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek in Amsterdam and conducted research into Photodynamic Therapy for nasopharyngeal carcinomas for 2 years.
Heike: “I think ENT surgery is a very interesting and varied profession. As an ENT doctor you experience the entire process; from the visit to the outpatient clinic, the treatment up to and including the follow-up process. In addition, you see patients in all age categories. I practice the full breadth of the ENT profession, with ear surgery as the main area of interest. I specialize in ear surgery for chronic ear infections (chronic otitis media and cholesteatoma). I find it very important and fun to give a patient good hearing again, without chronic ear infections. In short: a good quality of life for patients.”
