As a medical specialist in imaging diagnostics, drs. mr. Jeroen de Jong is affiliated with Jan van Goyen at the Osteoporosis outpatient clinic. Together with his colleague, he conducts bone densiometry studies, also known as dexa scans called. As a result, he tries to map out a patient's condition as accurately as possible.
'Nuclear medicine is a broad discipline and is always developing rapidly. I would not be able to estimate now what we will be capable of in ten years' time. That makes the job very interesting. We are increasingly able to accurately map patient-specific disease processes. This makes us an important addition to the patient's diagnostic process.
What we do is sometimes difficult for patients to understand. When I explain this calmly and extensively, they really appreciate it. With our entire team we try to do everything we can to help someone as best as possible, and the patient has an important voice in this process.'
