“I am a diabetes nurse and guide patients with type 1 and 2 diabetes. This can be on location, but also by telephone or e-mail.
Even though there are many drugs to treat diabetes, it is a hugely invasive disease for the patient that is always there. It gives me satisfaction to be able to help and support someone with this. I always keep in mind that no patient is the same. Every patient chooses what is important and what is quality of life for him or her.
I often hear from patients that I am patient and committed. Those are of course nice compliments. I can be very happy if I have been able to help someone get a better control of the blood sugars. Especially when they have gained (self) confidence in their own actions and therefore know better and better how to regulate blood sugars. It is important to me that my patients feel helped and that they know that they can always approach us for help and questions.”
