In healthcare there is always a field of tension between privacy legislation on the one hand and maximum patient care on the other. Below is a description of the types of personal information we receive and collect and the measures we take to protect the personal information.
Privacy declaration
Medical Center Jan van Goyen attaches great importance to the protection of your privacy, even when you visit our website.
MC JvG has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss or any form of unlawful processing.
The personal data you enter via the MC JvG website will only be used to handle feedback and complaints or to register registrations for services, events or meetings. This concerns names, addresses, date of birth, patient numbers, substantive complaints and other requested data.
Your data will not be used for purposes other than those described above and will never be made available to third parties, unless we are obliged to do so by law or you have given explicit (written) permission for this.
For more information about how we handle patient medical data, how we guarantee the confidentiality of this data and what rights you have as a patient with regard to this data, please refer to the patient data privacy statement.
With the arrival of the new privacy law General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on 25 May 2018, privacy rights have been expanded.
Image & sound recordings
In order to guarantee the privacy of patients and employees, prior permission and supervision from the marketing & communication coordinator is required for making recordings in and around the building of the Jan van Goyen Medical Center. Recordings are understood to mean all forms of sound and/or image recording.
Autoscriber
At MC JvG, we use Autoscriber, an AI transcription tool (converting spoken language into written text) to improve the quality of our care. This technology enables our doctors to spend more time on personal contact with patients and significantly reduces the administrative burden. We believe it is important to keep you well informed about the use of this technology and what this means for you.
Why do we use Autoscriber?
Autoscriber helps us to carefully and accurately record conversations between you and your doctor. This ensures clear and detailed medical documentation, which contributes to better quality of care. Our doctors always check and validate the generated transcripts to ensure that the information is correct and complete.
Which data is processed and how is it secured?
During the use of Autoscriber, medical data is processed, such as the content of conversations between doctor and patient. This data is stored securely and is accessible only to authorized personnel. We handle this information with care:
• Data is stored securely
• Only authorized employees have access
• We retain medical data in accordance with statutory retention periods (generally up to 20 years)
Patient consent
Patients are informed about the use of Autoscriber in the appointment confirmation. Would you prefer that Autoscriber not be used during your appointment? If so, you can easily indicate this to the doctor at the beginning of the consultation. Its use will then be stopped immediately.
What does this mean to you?
The use of Autoscriber ensures that our doctors can spend more time on direct contact with you as a patient, leading to a more personal and effective consultation. Additionally, the administrative burden for the doctors is reduced, which benefits the overall efficiency of our healthcare delivery.
Laws and Regulations
When using Autoscriber, we comply with applicable laws and regulations, such as:
• GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
• WGBO (Medical Treatment Agreement Act)
• Guidelines of the Dutch Data Protection Authority
• Relevant requirements regarding the use of AI
