In July, Jan van Goyen Medical Center is launching the pilot 'digital eye consultation for patients being monitored for glaucoma and retinal disorders.'‘
During the follow-up visit at the Ophthalmology outpatient clinic, the necessary examinations are performed by an Ophthalmic Technician. Depending on the condition, we determine in advance which examinations are required. The patient does not see an ophthalmologist during this visit. The examination results are subsequently reviewed by the ophthalmologist. The patient receives the results by telephone within two weeks at the latest, and the treatment plan and any follow-up appointments are discussed. As a result, the patient does not need to return to Medisch Centrum Jan van Goyen for the results.
Prior to scheduling, we assess based on the referral whether a patient is suitable for the digital eye consultation. If a telephone assessment is not appropriate, an in-person appointment at the Ophthalmology outpatient clinic is chosen. During the course of care, a telephone appointment can also be converted to an in-person appointment if there is a reason to do so. Naturally, patients remain free to contact us regarding changes in their situation, such as a deterioration in vision, so that an additional assessment can be scheduled if necessary.
