Crossectomy or ligation

With a crossectomy treatment, the main vessel that causes the varicose veins is tied in the groin area or at the back of the knee and, when possible, a few centimetres of the vessel is then removed. This way, the blood in the main vessel can no longer flow back.

This treatment is still used when a laser or RF treatment is not possible. The procedure can be performed under local anaesthetic.
