RF treatment

With the RF (VNUS Closure Fast) treatment, the varicose vein in the upper leg or calf is closed off with the use of radio frequency waves.

How does an RF treatment work?

Guided by ultrasound, the varicose vein is punctured at knee level (when the upper leg is treated) or below the calf (when the calf is treated). Via this access point, an RF thread is then inserted into the vein. The right position of the RF thread is determined with ultrasound after which the vein is sedated and then seared at 6.5 cm intervals at a temperature of 120 degrees Celsius using radio frequency waves. The result is that the varicose wall shrinks and the varicose vein closes. After the treatment, you will get an elastic support stocking that must be worn during the day for 36 hours. We already have this stocking available for you at the clinic.
