A patient-friendly treatment method to remove varicose veins when visible larger varicose veins remain after the closure or removal of the main vessel.
Small incisions of 2-3 mm are made into the skin above the varicose veins. A small hooked needle is used to pull the veins out of the skin after which they are removed. This procedure is done under a local anaesthesia. The incisions are so small that they do not need stitching. This method gives much better cosmetic results than the old-fashioned method which resulted in large scars. The cuts are taped with plasters and you will need to wear an elastic stocking for 1 week.
