Macular Degeneration: retinal disorder
Macular Degeneration (MD) literally means a degeneration of the macula, which is the yellow spot in the eye. It is a serious eye condition that causes a reduced visual acuity. With MD, the yellow spot, or macula, has become damaged. The macula may be a small part of the retina, but it is the part of the eye that allows us to see most of the details. The macula makes us able to read or recognise someone’s face.
